A Better Way To Listen to Your Music: dBs Headphones review

I’m a big fan of music. Have been for years. Saying I’m fan is actually probably putting it lightly, obsessed is more the word. I have been since I was a kid and use to overhear my brother listening to his 80s music (which I’m still very much into this day).

Anyone who loves their music is probably hung up on the sound. I know I am. I’ve spent years investing in the absolute best products (and often times, most expensive) on the market for getting the clearest, sharpest, absolute best sound! I have speakers all over my house. I but the best systems in my car and you can bet every car I’ve ever owned has had an amp and subwoofers. I may be well on into my 30’s too, but if I drove by, you would probably think from the bass and the overall loudness of my music coming from my car, that I was actually a teenager instead.

It’s pretty obvious I’m always looking for the biggest, best new thing in sound and music! In fact, when the bluetooth generation of products hit the market, I started buying them up like crazy! The convenience of not having wires is absolutely amazing and I don’t know how I’ve ever dealt with those super annoying things before! What a Pain! So naturally when I found some amazing bluetooth headphones (the one thing I had left to replace in my music arsenal), I couldn’t wait to give them a try!

Now I have to admit, when I saw the price on these dBs (Direct Beat Headphones)  for – only $39 on Amazon,  I was beyond skeptical. I have $500 headphones (unfortunately not wireless!)  that I have used and loved for about the last three years, and I thought they would probably put these poor little guys to shame, but boy, could I have not been more wrong.

After I gave by dBs headphones a good charge, I put them on, put my iPhone on shuffle and started listening. (These headphones are compatible with all android and IOS devices). What I found was that the sound coming out of these super comfortable (and incredibly chic, especially in white if you ask me, but you can get them in black too) headphones was unbelievably clear! The sound was crisp, rather amazing actually! It even had really good bass, which I thought for sure at that price, would be lacking! Ah Contraire! The bass coming out of these headphone is well beyond what you would expect! I tried out hip hop, techno, pop, rock, alternative, and indie (for hours on end) with these headphones, and EVERYTHING sounded amazing coming through their speakers! For instance, I listened to one of my favorite songs, “Children” remixed by DJ Ricky Worden, and didn’t even realize that it has running water in the background, until listening to the song on my dBs bluetooth headphones, and I’ve probably listened to this song at least 50 times before with several other devices!

The headphones not only sound and look amazing, but thanks to being bluetooth and having a built in microphone, you can also take calls from it, which is incredibly handy! No more looking at your phone when you’re listening to your music to see if you’ve missed a call, received a text, etc. The headphones also come with handy pause, forward, and rewind to the previous song buttons too.

The headphones are also adjustable and completely comfortable. The ear pieces are especially cushiony and feel good for listening hours on end. In fact the first day I listened to them for about 4 hours and my ears never felt tired or uncomfortable once, like nearly every headphone on the market tends to do to them after usually only a few hours of listening! They also offer great noise reduction too. It is compatible with tablets, computers, and other bluetooth enabled devices too. Even if you’re device is not bluetooth compatible, you can still connect it to these headphones with a 3.5 mm cable (which comes with the headphones) and listen to your music that way too! It also has multi-point connectivity so it can connect to 2 devices at once! AND it remembers the last device it synced too and will automatically re-connect to it the next time you go to use it.

These headphones are super easy to use, just turn on the headphones select bluetooth mode from your device, make sure it connects, and then you can start streaming!

Well once I was well into my listening, I decided to put on my $500 headphones I mentioned earlier, mid-song, to see just how it compared. What I found is that the $500 headphones were a bit too bass heavy. In fact, I liked the sound coming from my dBs headphones much better. What was overwhelmingly noticeable too, was how much clearer my music sounded coming from the dBs headphones, over my expensive headphones (maybe in part thanks to them having TOO Much bass)! I know, that sounds hard to believe, but I kept switching back and forth between headphones and I was definitely loving the sound coming from my dBs headphones, more than from my designer headphones, just because the sound was so much clearer, and crisper, and I could hear details like that background running water from the song “Children,” that just wasn’t coming through as clearly on my expensive headphones.

I’ve been absolutely loving these headphones and can’t even be bothered to put them down! They sound amazing! The battery also lasts forever between charges too, in fact up to 10 hours listening or taking a phone call (250 hours if they’re just sitting there), and it only takes 3 hours to charge it!

The only con I have with these headphones, is that I do wish they played louder. As I mentioned earlier, I drive around with my music up quite loud, probably a lot more so than most people. I’m the same way with any device I’m using for listening. I just like my music loud. So I realize this probably will not be a con for a lot of people, but I did end up listening to my music turned all the way up, most of the time, while using my dBs headphones.

Overall, I’m completely obsessing over these fabulous bluetooth headphones! It’s so nice not having to deal with wires and the range is great too! I can leave my phone sitting on the table and walk all over my house and my music has yet to stop playing! The range is awesome! Also for the price, and the fact that I prefer them over $500 headphones (and not just because the $500 headphones weren’t wireless) says a lot about these headphones! Honestly, I think anyone in the market for headphones would be crazy not to pick these up! And with Father’s day coming soon, these would make a really great gift (and inexpensive one) for your husband, father, brother, whoever!
