What to Consider When it Comes to Getting Plastic Surgery

With the arrival of warm weather and sunshine, often comes the anxiety of getting out and being seen in heaven forbid.. a swimsuit. I’ve certainly thought seriously a time or two about turning my small A’s into some Large C’s or Smaller D’s, as I’ll admit I can feel a little inferior at the beach, stuck in a sea of big boobs – literally! I’ve been to a plastic surgeon for a consultation but have yet to make the move.

What to Consider When it Comes to Getting Plastic Surgery

When it comes to Plastic Surgery, there are actually a few things on my list I’ve wanted to look into a bit more, and maybe one day will actually do. Thanks to my genes, I was gifted by my mother and maternal grandmother, some not so lovely eyelids. In fact, they’ve dropped since I’ve been in my mid-twenties, making eye makeup extremely hard to apply. Last Summer I sat down with a very fabulous makeup artist at a Makeup Forever Event I was invited to and learned some cool tips to apply makeup even with droopy eyelids. It’s a great solution in the meantime, but seeing how droopy my own mom’s eyelids have gotten over the years, I’m pretty sure an eye lift is in my near future, at least at some point.

There is always a pressure to look better, that will always be there. It doesn’t necessarily mean we have to take a big step like having surgery to fix it, but sometimes It can be just what we need to help us feel a bit more confident in our own skin. I’ve had several close friends and a family member or two embark on the journey and many ended up so very happy with their results. I have seen the improvement in their attitudes, confidence, self-love, and body-love, and that has made me so happy for them and I see that plastic surgery was absolutely an invaluable tool for them. Which of course get’s me thinking that maybe it’s time I jump on the bandwagon too and start improving some physical things (like those saggy eyelids) to feel better in my own skin too!

But, I’ve also seen the other side and one of my best friends, who has experienced some really negative side effects from her breast enhancement surgery she had several years ago. See my article on Breast Implant Illness Here (which was also published in the Huffington Post!)

When it comes to getting surgery, It’s always a good idea to get as much info on it as you can, speak to others who have been through it, do your research, find a reputable plastic surgeon with lots of experience and good reviews, so you can make the best possible decision. Don’t be afraid to visit several plastic surgeons to find one you like the best.

When it comes to taking a big step like surgery, there is always a risk involved. So keep your self informed, look for and try other less-invasive options in the meantime.  Take your time to think about it and research it, make sure you’re doing it for yourself and not for someone else. And last but not least, make sure you are at peace with your decision. If you’re still hesitant, it may not be the right time or the right decision for you.

Have you had plastic surgery? What were your results? Are you happy with it or do you wish you wouldn’t have done it? Let me know in the comments, I love hearing from you!
