I’ll admit, I’m not the “Greenest” person on the planet, but I do try to do my part. Being a total fashionista though, there is no doubt I over-consume! In a recent move from Wyoming to Utah, after packing up my 3 closets full of clothes (yeah, and one was the size of a bedroom), my brother playfully started calling me the the “Clothes Hoarder.” Which actually got me thinking a lot more about just clothes. Truth is, in America, it’s easy to buy to much, and even worse, it’s easy to be lazy and just use those horrible plastic bags they give you wherever you shop. While some awesome retailers have done their part to make it easy to return these plastic bags and be a little nicer on our lovely planet, the fact is many of us just aren’t doing it. While a lot of us probably aren’t constantly buying clothes (though something tells me if you’re reading this, like me, you probably do!) pretty much all of us are at least doing pretty routine trips to the grocery store for food. I know over the years I’ve ended up with drawers full of those horrible landfall-filling plastic bags, that of course haven’t been doing me any good since they arrived at my house.
A few years back, reusable shopping totes started to catch on, and thank goodness for that. I bought about 20 at my local grocery store and ended up with some pretty horrific looking black bags with a big green recycle sign across the front. When my Carry Well bags arrived, I was absolutely in love with the look of them, of course! Style is important to me! But when I pulled them out of the box and started handling them, I was amazed just to see how cleverly organized they are, not to mention how many bags you get in just one tote! Like I said above, you get several reusable totes per Carry Well bag, and not only that, but they come with 2 produce bags and a thermal bag for keeping food cold too. I never even thought about how convenient and truly awesome these types of bags would be when shopping for groceries until I tried it out! I stuck my produce in the produce bags, gave them a good wash, and pulled the drawstring shut and popped them in the fridge and they were ready to go when I was ready to start cooking! The thermal bag is also amazing if you have some ice cream or frozen food you would like to keep extra cold, or perhaps you have a few more errands to run before returning home. The real magic if you ask me is, is how great these bags really are though. They are soft and pliable, making them easy to roll up and store in your Carry Well. Yet they are study and strong enough, you can fill them to the brim with product, basically with as much as you can handle lifting to carry! I think the thing people don’t realize about how convenient eco friendly shopping bags are, is that they make lugging groceries from your car to your house a cinch! You can get so much more food in them then those cheap plastic bags that tend to rip on you anyway, saving you less trips to the car! I find that it usually cuts my bags by two-thirds! You can get so much product in these bags and they are strong and have study straps so you never have to worry about them breaking on you!
