Got a Book Lover on Your Holiday Shopping List? I Couldn’t Put This Riveting Novel Down!

I love a good gripping story that has me on the edge of my seat dying to know what in the world is going to happen next! This last week I read a wonderful book in just 2 days! This beautifully written thriller contains mystery, murder, love, and of all other things.. a supposed haunted house.

ANONYMOUS by Christine Benedict, tells the thrilling story of Debra, a young newlywed, and daughter of a schizophrenic, who has recently purchased and moved into her husband’s house of his dreams – an incredibly old, scary fixer-upper farm house, with a few creepy tales of it’s own. Once their, she soon meets a friendly neighbor who is dealing with her own level of creepiness, including a scary stalker who keeps sending her anonymous, often times – perverted, love letters.

Benedict wonderfully narrates a suspenseful story, that had me dying to know what was going to happen next! The story starts out roping you in quickly with a character you can’t help but love. Debra has seen many hard times including growing up with a schizophrenic mother who has done plenty of harm to the family, including Debra herself. Despite her history, and her constant worry that she may one day turn out like her mother, Debra is strong and hopeful. She is loving and determined to make the creepy old farmhouse a haven, even though it will take years of work to get the 14 room mansion up and running, solely for the purpose of giving her adoring, hard working husband a beautiful home he has had his heart set on since first laying his eyes on the old farmhouse, located in a rural area of Ohio.

It doesn’t take long before this book sucks you in, wondering if Debra’s house is indeed haunted or if she has inherited the same mental illness her mother has been battling for many years. And if a scary house wasn’t enough to deal with, Debra soon finds herself engulfed in her neighbor, Julie’s own drama. Julie another cheery, out-going character, is stuck in a loveless marriage and quickly finds out she has a stalker. This stalker, who at first seemed a bit innocent after professing her love to her through anonymous letters, may end up being a bigger threat to these two women than they ever imagined.

I found myself burning through page after page sitting on the end of my seat, wanting to know what happens next! On the first night I picked it up, I planned on just reading a couple of chapters to get me started. I ended up reading over 60% of the book, and well into the early hours of the morning! The story is so beautiful written and descriptive, (sometimes even incredibly graphic) I couldn’t help but feel like I was right there with Julie and Debra, running for my life too! On the second night, I completely finished the book, because there was just no way I was going to wait another night to find out what was going to happen! As I read on, there were a few times I found myself biting my nails and swallowing hard. As the mystery starts to unravel and you find out just how these two ladies and their stories are more intertwined than you could’ve ever possibly imagined, I was completely sold. I finished the book with a big smile on my face! Brilliant!

It’s not hard to see how this compelling tale has already won lots of awards and stunning accolades too, its twists and suspense keep you anxiously turning page after page engrossed in every singe detail of the story!
