There’s not much worse than dealing with a stressful day when you ended up sleeping like crap the night before. I need my 7-8 hours a night, and anything less and I’m already crabby and having a hard time functioning as it is!
Like many of you, I have a history of poor sleeping – I think because I am such a light sleeper and nearly anything in the night wakes me up. And also because I tend to have a hard time shutting my mind off at night too. If I wake up to any little noise in the night, I’m in big trouble. Because my mind will start wandering and before I know it, I’ve been lying there already for 2 hours, wide awake and stressed because I have to be up in a couple of hours!
I know I’m not the only one to suffer from poor sleep and many others out there have no idea why they are constantly waking up each morning having no idea why they feel so tired and unrested either.
Many of you have probably heard of Sleep Apnea and know that it can be a real problem for helping you sleep sound and deeply at night. If you don’t know much about it, well, it tends to be one of those things you probably don’t know you have unless you’ve done a $1200 in-hospital sleep study prescribed by your doctor, where you actually stay for a few nights so they can monitor your sleeping. Sleep Apnea can be completely detrimental to your sleep and can cause real problems for many people! Imagine dealing with those crappy days with not much sleep the night before, EVERY SINGLE DAY!? I would die. For real, I can’t even function properly the next day without a good night’s sleep.
If you’re experiencing many days in a row not feeling well-rested, Sleep Apnea may absolutely be what’s keeping you from getting a good nights sleep. But like many of us, you probably don’t have the $1200 to shell out for an in-hospital stay to find out for sure if you have Sleep Apnea. Unfortunately, though, The key to true clinical sleep lab monitoring is oxygen measurement – used to detect sleep apnea, and up until now, It’s only been able to be measured in a lab. Your body’s oxygen plummets and your pulse rate increases to compensate for the missing oxygen, and while these interruptions can be minor, or they can catastrophically “ruin” your sleep for the entire night.
Sleep Apnea isn’t the only thing out there that causes sleep problems either! So how else in do we find out what is causing us to wake up tired each morning? Well if you often wake up wondering this very thing, you’re probably going to be as excited about this awesome new gadget currently being crowdfunded on IndieGoGo, as I am!
