These Design Tips Could See Your Rooms Staying Cleaner For Longer

The last thing you want to do after a long working day is to get the vacuum out. But, that’s the reality many of us face if we want to keep our homes looking respectable. If you let things slide on work nights, you can certainly bet you’d spot the difference come the weekend. By Wednesday night, you might even find that the mess stops you from relaxing. Hence why you spend at least an hour cleaning each night. They do so that there’s no rest for the wicked.

Sadly, we aren’t here with some magic solution to ensure your house stays clean without you. There’s no getting around the fact that you’ll need to clean at some stage. But, what if we were to tell you that your design choice could help your home look cleaner for longer? With these, you may find that you can get away with leaving things for a few days longer. All you need to do is keep reading to find out what these magic design choices are.

White walls

White walls are hot stuff at the moment. They’re a prime feature of the minimalistic home designs so many of us are going crazy for.  And, they can work wonders for ensuring your home looks cleaner for longer. This is because they create a feeling of freshness and space, two things which help eliminate the appearance of mess. A room which looks larger is less likely to seem cluttered. The brightness afforded by white paint can also cover a multitude of sins. Of course, white also has a habit of catching dirt if you aren’t careful, so you can’t leave this for too long. But, this change alone could half the time you spend cleaning.

Blinds instead of curtains

It may also be worth sparing a thought for your window dressings. Curtains have their plus points, but they can often look messy. They’re usually pretty loud in design. Plus, they drag across the floor making clutter and getting mucky. By comparison, blinds like those found at www.montgomerys.com can make any room look more sleek and tailored. Far from dragging along the floor, these sit neatly on your windows and fold up out of sight when not needed. And, far from having to wash and dry them if they get dirty, you can wipe them down with a wet cloth once a week. That’s what we call easy cleaning.

Laminate floors

Lastly, you might want to install laminate flooring using guides like this one at www.todayshomeowner.com. Carpet has a habit of catching dust and dirt. As such, you may find that you need to vacuum every day to keep your rooms looking clean. By comparison, laminate flooring tends to remain cleaner for longer. At the very worst, you’ll need to give this a ten-second sweep with a brush. Like white walls, laminate also has the benefit of creating a feeling of space. Again, that can work wonders for keeping your rooms looking cleaner for longer.

  1. I so think that wooden floors are the way to go to keep your house clean(er!). And a must if anyone in your home has allergies!

  2. Today’s laminate and even vinyl plank flooring is pretty good quality these days. My problem is corralling the clutter.
