Why Biotin Isn’t Enough for Growing Out Hair!

Hey Lovelies, I recently have been asked a ton about how I was able to grow my hair out so long. My whole life, my hair would barely grow past my shoulders. It’s only been in the last 3-4 years that I’ve been able to grow it out several inches longer until my hair finally reached the middle of my back. My Secret? Biotin. The thing about Biotin is you need to make sure it contains other helpful ingredients such as Saw palmetto berries, horsetail herb, and other natural ingredients with important hair vitamins!

Hair loss: a huge misconception in the beauty and natural community is that all you need to grow hair and stop breakage is biotin. You actually need a lot more.

“While biotin is an important part of a great hair growth vitamin, it is not a standalone supplement. To truly work wonders, biotin needs to be paired in harmony with an army of other powerful ingredients,” explains Carla Rivas, co-founder of Hair La Vie Vitamins. “Using biotin alone is like trying to clean your hair with just water. You need shampoo and all of its other ingredients to combine together with this water to get the job done the right way that will grow healthier, longer, fuller hair, faster than ever before.”

Biotin can help grow stronger hair and keep a healthy scalp but in most cases it’s the actual hair follicle that has been damaged. Damaged follicles either don’t grow hair at all or grow weak, thin hair. So it’s extremely important to nourish the follicles. You need more natural nutrients like saw palmetto, borage oil and kelp to help repair the inflamed or shrunken root.

Look for biotin supplements working with all-natural ingredients like:

1. Saw Palmetto Berries – Stops the shrinkage of hair follicles, allowing them to thrive and produce healthy hair.

2. Horsetail Herb – Rich in silica, this mineral which has been shown to accelerate hair growth, maintain hair elasticity, add luster to hair, and prevent split ends.
3. Kelp – A natural source of iodine, it helps to support the hair follicle by both regulating the resting time of the hair follicle and helping it to become active again for new growth.
4. Borage Oil Powder – Contains an omega-6 essential fatty that helps to reduce the inflammation of hair follicles that often leads to damage and hair loss.
5. Flax Seed Oil – Has omega-3 essential fatty acid that helps maintain healthy hair follicles by regulating the production of sebum oil in the scalp, increasing the retention of water, providing moisture, and relieving dry, itchy scalp.

*Also just a quick note on taking Biotin. You have to take it for an extended time before you see results. I took it everyday for a year before I started to tell a difference in the length of my hair. Don’t give up on it when you don’t see results right away! I promise it will be worth it once it kicks in!
