The first thing that you need to do is find inspiration. Have a look on Google, Instagram, and Pinterest for fashion inspiration. If you find a model that you love the style of, Google her look. When it comes to finding a style that’s perfect for you, inspiration is crucial. A great way to keep track of what you like is by creating a Pinterest board of all your fave fashion images. Any pieces of clothing you find online that you love, screenshot and pin. You can then use your style board for inspiration when it comes to shopping.

Try out different styles

Being fashionable is about finding out what works for you, so it’s important to try out a few different looks. Hit the shops and select various items, from smart wear to gothic clothing, and try on a range of items. This will give you a better idea of what type of look suits your best, and what style you prefer. Once you find a style of clothing that you love, shopping for clothes becomes much easier.

Choose clothes that flatter your shape

Of course, it’s not just about finding clothing that you like but also about looking for pieces that flatter your shape. If you want your clothes to make your feel confident, it’s crucial that you choose pieces that flatter your shape. This can be hard to do at first, but in time, you’ll get a better understanding of what does and doesn’t look good on you. There are also apps that help you to work out your body shape – pear, hourglass, apple, etc., and find styles that will work for you.

Take your lifestyle into consideration

Last but not least, it’s important to take your lifestyle into account. This is important as your lifestyle can impact your sense of style significantly. For example, say you work from home, you wouldn’t need to worry about including office wear in your wardrobe. However, if you spend your time working at a corporate office, when shopping for new clothes you would need to think about your work wear. As well as picking out a selection of casual items for wearing when you’re not at work.

There you have it, everything that you need to know about finding your sense of style. Take the above tips on board and you can ensure that you always look and feel fantastic.

  1. I agree that it is important to work with your own body image, instead of against it. Something that I have found also, is that you should also work with your own personality. A person can tell when you are wearing something that reflects someone other than yourself. Likewise, you can tell when someone is wearing something that is totally complimentary to their personality, and the effect is beautiful!

  2. My daughter has been struggling with her image and is having a hard time figuring out who she is and how she wants to dress. I really liked that you had mentioned that it can be very important to look for inspiration and find a style that fits you. I’ll have to talk with her and see if she’ll give this a try, but I might just have to look into a personal stylist.
