Tips for Bad Hair Days AND Bad Health Days Too

*This post is sponsored by Aflac. I was compensated for writing it, but all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Ever had that horribly awful bad hair day where you knew your only solution was pulling it back in a ponytail and hoping no one notices. Or even worse, when the pony won’t even work and you’re too embarrassed to even step outside? Oh my gosh, I certainly have! My super long, naturally wavy, naturally-prone to dryness and frizzy hair, can certainly leave me in a bind at times! Check out one of my sad, bad hair days from the past:

Aflac Bad Hair Days

Yeah unfortunately we’ve all been there, and often times the weather and humidity are just not our friends. And apparently neither is a duck, at least when it comes to hair styling!

Have you seen the new Aflac Salon Commercial, where the famous duck tries his hand at hairstyling?  I totally got a kick out of this!

While the Aflac duck may be no Paul Mitchell, he can however get your claim paid out to you in 1 day! Yep you read that right- ONE DAY! Don’t know much about Aflac? I signed up for them through my work years ago! Why? Because they are the leading provider of voluntary insurance on the work site. It’s not your average health insurance. In fact, it’s far different. Aflac is insurance for daily living. Keep your employers medial insurance for those unfortunate times where you need a doctor and some help paying for it, but get Aflac as a secondary insurance to pay you cash benefits quickly and DIRECTLY to you (unless assigned otherwise) when you need help with out-of-pocket expenses due to sickness or injury. So what exactly does that mean? It means Aflac will step up and pay things like your mortgage, car payment, groceries, child care, even rent or parking at the hospital! See, I think you may now be getting the idea of why I signed up for Aflac, and why so many others have too! Illness and Injury is stressful enough, especially when dealing with your medical insurance. Jeez, don’t even get me started on that! But Aflac will help relieve the stress of every day expenses by helping you pay for them! When you’re out for work thanks to that horrible injury, Aflac makes it so you don’t have to worry about how your monthly bills will be paid, until you can get back to work!

With Aflac’s incredible one-day policy, you can get paid those cash benefits in as little as just 1 business day, thanks to Aflac;s new One Day Pay Promise! It’s Aflac’s way of making sure that all eligible claims are processed and approved on the same day they are submitted. Aflac is built to process and pay- not to deny and delay! Helping take out the worry in your daily life, and helping you stay on track!

Feels pretty good to know someone is there to help you out when injury or sickness occurs and you’re wondering how your monthly living expenses will be paid, right?! Now that you know Aflac has got you covered there, let me offer you some advice for that stressful bad hair day!

Need some good hair tips to help you overcome your bad hair day? – Here it is, The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Easy HairStyles and no more bad hair days!

I’m all about easy hair styles. I tend to be lazy when it comes to styling my hair and if it requires more than 10 minutes, there is just no way I’m doing it!

A few years back I learned some incredible SUPER EASY hairstyling tricks anyone can do with medium to long hair.

1. To get pretty Curly Hair: shampoo and condition hair before bed, and while hair it still wet, put into 2-3 buns on the top of your head. That’s it! Go to sleep, when you wake in the morning and pull out your buns, you will have beautiful textured curly hair!

Tip: Just don’t forget to apply your style holding cream or hairspray in the AM, so that the curls don’t fall out throughout the day!

2. To get pretty Loose Beach Waves: Again, the same kind of EASY trick. After washing hair, while still wet, put your hair into a side or back braid. Once dry, remove the braid and you will have lovely loose beachy waves!

Tip: Add sea salt spray before braiding your hair or after removing the braid, and you will get a cool beachy texture to go with your waves that will help it hold througout the day too.

3. To add instant class and gorgeous undo to any Ponytail or BunI’m all about the pony and bun, obviously, any lazy girl would be! It takes 2 seconds to do and you’re good to go. BUT, sometimes we tend to get stuck with the same old pony tail or bun on those lazy days or maybe you need a quick fix for cocktails that evening but don’t have time to wash your hair. Here’s what to do: Add some dry shampoo if you’re going on a few days old hair. Tousle the hair up around the roots. Before pulling your hair back into a pony, start a wide loose side braid at the front of your head, at your part, heading back towards your pony or bun. Braid back while holding your hair in a loose pony with an elastic. Pancake the braid to give it a soft, loose look, by simply pulling each section apart, starting at the bottom of the braid and working your way up. Then tie up the braid with your pony using your pony tail elastic and you’re good to go!

Tip: wrap a small piece of hair around the pony tail elastic to hide the elastic and make your look more polished.

Here’s my side braid I ended up smoothing back into a bun at the bottom of my neck. Takes 5 minutes to do!

  1. I finally got so tired of bad hair days, I cut my hair really short, lol. Which, of course, brings a different kind of bad hair days! But with short hair, a little water forces it down, lol.

  2. These tips are helping me today! I’ve got a sinus infection and I do not have the energy to fuss with my hair!

  3. My hair is really long and there is so much of it that it is hard to do some styles with it. Braiding and ponytails are my standard, especially on lazy days.

  4. This commercial is so cute! I don’t need a service like this but I certainly do need help with my hair during the Summer time humidity. Thanks for the ponytail & bun tips. It’s so hot I don’t even want my hair down. 🙂

  5. I have seen the AFLAC commercial and it is hysterical. I also have my share of bad hair days and that’s when it goes directly into a ponytail! I love your tips, but wish you had a closeup of your last one with the side braid. Maybe sometime you can do a pictorial. Thanks for sharing.
