Home Security is one of those things you never think about until something bad happens to you. Last summer, someone vandalized my beloved BMW right in front of my apartment, and it was only then that I thought about adding some home security.
When most of us think of home security, we think of expensive equipment and pricey security home services that require monthly payments. Luckily though, technology has advanced so much over the last few years, that this is absolutely not a must-have anymore to keep your home protected. There are certain things you can do to secure your home that cost practically next to nothing. One such example is putting up a “Beware of Dog” sign.
I saw a 20/20 special where they talked to a guy who has been breaking into homes for years, and he said that even if he didn’t see the dog, the sign was enough for him to move on to the next house. “No burglar wants to deal with a dog,” he said. He also stated that seeing those home security signs from those expensive services, actually don’t phase burglars at all, “because we know most of you don’t bother to even turn them on at night or when you’re away from home.”
Pretty crazy right? I was actually stunned to hear this myself.
After my car vandalization, I had a camera put right up in front of my apartment, directed right at my porch and car. But there are even cheaper options than a camera. Take for example the AveyLum Sensor LED Lightbulb. this handy lightbulb will only cost you about $11, and it automatically turns on from dusk til dawn! I put one on the front of my garage in my new home. This light bulb is actually incredibly bright, has a broad range for sensoring activity, and lights up the whole front entry of my garage really well, making it much harder for someone to mess with my home!
The light bulb only lights up in the dark so you don’t have to worry about energy costs of it turning on when not needed during the day. It completely eliminates the need for a timer, since it tuns on automatically from dusk-til-dawn, and it takes two seconds to set up – just screw it in like a regular light bulb! It also has a super long life-span too, thanks to being LED.
Some pictures of my current home during the day:
Here’s my home NOW, lit up with this super bright white Dusk til Dawn Automatic Sensor LED Lightbulb from AveyLum.
And here it is in comparison to my other garage light, so you can see just how much brighter and whiter this AveyLum Sensor light is!
I feel much more secure now having this automatic sensor detecting dusk til dawn light bulb to light up my place at night, and can’t wait to add more of them around my property for extra security. It’s also nice to come home to in the evening and have my porch lit up for me so I can see in the dark!

We do not have a security alarm so this would be awesome to have!!!
Not much actually! Lock our doors and hope for the best?!
We do have some security cameras. I would love one of these for more light and some motion sensors. We got broken into a bit ago and it wasnt pleasant.
We have a security alarm, but I would also love more light as well! Thanks for the chance!!
We have motion sensor lights in our yard, both front and back and double locks on all the doors and locks on the windows.
We have cameras & alarms on all the windows
Those are some fantastic steps to take!
Thanks for the sensible critique. Me and my neighbor were just preparing to do a little research about this. We got a grab a book from our local library but I think I learned more from this post. I am very glad to see such great info being shared freely out there.
