I recently took a fit, health, and wellness class last summer. I’ve always been into health and fitness, so I was a bit skeptical I would really learn anything from this 12 week course, but surprisingly I did. I learned a lot actually. It was totally worth every dime! In that class, we discussed the use of probiotics. Now if you’re like me, you’ve heard how yogurt has probiotics and its good bacteria that we need in our systems to fight the bad bacteria. I’ve never really thought much into this besides when I splurged and ate a super sugary yogurt, and I would tell myself its good for me.
Well yes probiotics are actually really good for you and really important for good health, especially if like me and you don’t eat meat and rarely eat dairy, because then you’re probably getting hardly any probiotics at all! When I learned this, I was immediately surprised. When I became a vegetarian about five years ago, I really researched foods with non-animal high protein and other vitamins to make sure I was staying healthy and fit. When I told my mom I was giving up meat, she got really upset and told me she use to know a vegan way back in the 70’s who looked so unhealthy. Well mom, times have changed and its easy to eat a vegan diet and stay super healthy, (and I’m not totally sure that lady wasn’t doing it right anyway!) But you do have to stay on top of the important vitamins, minerals, and nutrients you may not be getting by cutting out meat and dairy, such as iron, vitamin D. etc.
When I learned the importance of adding probiotics to my diet, I started with a probiotic drink. Bad idea! They taste absolutely horrible! My husband teases me that I have virtually no taste buds and can eat almost anything bland or even on the gross side, but even I couldn’t stomach the drinks, but then I found Microbiome Plus Gastrointestinal probiotics in a pill form!
What I found is that probiotics are super easy to take in the pill form. In fact, I had been taking some other probiotics in the pill form, but would usually forget to take them before eating, because I had no clear regimen. What I love about these pills is that you take two in the morning first thing and then two with a meal later on in the day. I kept the other 2 in my pocket and would take them with lunch or my dinner if it would be the bigger meal I would eat that day.
By having this regimen, I rarely missed taking my pills, so I was able to get in plenty of probiotics most days. I loved that this kept me on track, especially once I started noticing how I felt while taking them! On the first couple days of taking my Microbiome Plus probiotics, I splurged and ate some cheesy meals. I rarely eat dairy and I’ve found that when you cut out certain foods, especially meat or dairy, if you go back and eat them after some time, you will notice your body reacts, usually in a not very pleasant way. I get super gassy. No fun! But when I took my Microbiome Plus probiotics before eating those cheesy meals, no gas! My stomach also wasn’t growling and making super weird noises or making me feel uncomfortable in the least.
I also had my husband put these probiotics to the test too. The poor guy has a wicked case of lactose intolerance. In fact, he’s pretty intolerant of most foods. I had him try the probiotics with some meals and he was pleasantly surprised. He also didn’t experience his usual rush to the bathroom after eating dairy! He said that he didn’t experience any of his usual discomfort with any food while taking the probiotics before eating!
I was talking to my mom the other day (who is also a big health nut) and brought this up to her, and she was like, ” oh yeah, I take probiotics! Have been for awhile! They are really great for helping me digest my meals!” I was actually quite surprised to hear that my mom had already jumped on this train too! But I’m really not surprised, because once you start taking them, you really notice the benefits right away.
I’ve been testing out my Microbiome Plus probiotics for the last month now and have been absolutely stunned with how much better it helps me digest food. I tend to eat pretty healthy but over the holidays I did some major slacking. I found that my probiotics really helped me feel so much better. I noticed especially with certain foods that give me tummy issues, such as broccoli, pizza, or any fast food for that matter, that when taking my Microbiome Plus probiotics, I experienced virtually almost no discomfort!
Probiotics are healthy for everyone, not just for you fellow vegetarians and vegans out there. My mom and husband are both taking them (who are both meat eaters and really follow no special diet) and have found it has helped them tremendously too. I have really loved using the Microbiome Plus over other probiotics because it keeps me on a regimen where I remember to take my pills each day, and therefore experience much more benefit by taking probiotics regularly with meals. Because of this, I noticed a much more noticeable difference with how I felt after meals then with other previous probiotics.
You may be surprised to know that probiotics also help strengthen your immune health too. Great to be taking this time of year when flu’s and cold’s are running rampant! My husband got very sick the last few weeks that I think he picked up from my family over Christmas, but somehow I didn’t catch it at all! I don’t know if my Microbiome Plus probiotics for sure helped me out there, but maybe they did!
I’ve absolutely loved using these probiotics and can’t wait to see the benefits of extended use! I can splurge on meals I normally might not eat, knowing that my Mircobiome Plus will help my body digest better than it would on it’s own, and its not going to leave me in an embarrassing situation either! Not only that, but by taking them regularly, I’m keeping my body healthier too!

My New Years healthy resolution is to stop smoking!
My healthy plans are to continue eating more healthy meals and snacks than not and continuing exercising on a regular basis. I have read a little about probiotics and would love to try them. Thanks do much for this opportunity.
To try to eat better!
Hi! My healthy goal for this year is to cut-out deep-fried foods. I don’t eat them to often but, I feel anyway, it’s too much. Thank-you for this information & review!
