Check out my Guest Blog Post for InWithSkin.com on the Zerona Laser:
Who doesn’t have a few extra pounds they would love to get rid of? Sometimes it seems like diet and exercise just isn’t quite enough to get rid of that stubborn belly flat, especially for sugar addicts like myself!
Most of us are looking for an easy way to get rid of those few extra pounds, and although there are many procedures and supplements out there that claim to do so, for most of us, these things just haven’t quite done the job…yet, anyway! Maybe the new guy in town, with his claims of zapping fat through a laser can do just that… The new guy, being the Zerona Laser.
If you haven’t heard of the Zerona Laser yet, it is a new laser treatment claiming to break down and remove fat cells from the body without affecting the surround tissues and skin. The Zerona Laser works by emitting cold laser energy into the body, which is then absorbed by the fat. The fat is then broken down and channeled out of the body.
This new laser treatment claims to help patients lose as much as nine inches after their first series of treatments, with results that could show up in as soon as 14 days!
In a study in 2008, the FDA-approved Zerona Laser helped patients lose an average of 5-6 inches for their waist, hips, and thighs, in just a few weeks.
Thanks to the ease of this treatment and the fact that it requires no downtime, is done in an outpatient setting, causes no pain or incisions or marks from the treatment, and has no reported side effects… it seems like it could be worthwhile. One treatment is only 40 minutes long. Many patients even report the treatment as being relaxing. Depending on your weight and body type, the suggested treatment period is only two weeks, with three full sessions each week.
However, it is important to note that there are no long-term studies on the effectiveness of the Zerona laser yet, and there is no guarantee you will lose inches. The treatment is also costly and there may be need for continuous treatments – possibly up to six – in order to be effective. It should also be noted that patients who undergo the treatment also need to maintain a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise in order to keep weight off.
The Zerona Laser certainly seems like it may be worthwhile, but as with all procedures, it’s important to do your research and learn as much as possible before undergoing treatment, as well as to make sure your cosmetic or plastic surgeon is certified. A good place to start is talking to your doctor.
