Studio Gear CC Cream Review

BB Creams were all the rage for a bit there a year or two ago, but if you haven’t heard yet, CC Creams flew right in and replaced them almost immediately! Why? Because while BB Creams (Beauty balm) are amazing for dry skin because they are heavy, and they cover more like a foundation, CC Creams (Color Corrective) are more lightweight, better for all skin types, and are more like a concealer than a foundation, although you can still wear it like one.

My skin used to be dry so I always adored the BB Creams but lately its been more acne prone so I’ve been looking for lighter coverage that would let my face breathe a little better, so I was super excited to try the new Studio Gear CC Cream.

This CC Cream really lived up to what I expected out of the newest beauty craze. The cream is indeed lightweight and completely non-greasy. My CC Cream from Studio Gear covered blemishes perfectly, while I would still add a bit of concealer to some of the darker spots before adding my CC Cream.

The CC Cream smooths over the face nicely and while there are not many color choices (you can pick from three shades from Studio Gear), I went with the Linen shade for my lighter toned skin, and it was a perfect match. I loved that it blended in seamlessly with my skin. I also loved that it did not make my oily skin look oily at all, like a lot of BB creams tend to do. My face felt and looked like it could breathe much better, while things that I wanted to stay hidden stayed hidden very well. All day long as a matter of fact!

This CC cream works as a skin brightener as well (which you won’t always find in BB Creams or your regular foundations. It’s a light foundation, which also contains anti-aging properties, to help build collagen and fight off those nasty wrinkles and fine lines! You can also find SPF in Studio Gear’s CC Cram, and the cream also works as a moisturizer too! For up to 72 hours as a matter of fact!

I love that you get so many benefits from this all in one BB cream from Studio Gear. While my skin tends to be on the oily side lately, because I use super drying acne products, I need and loved the extra boost of moisturizer I got out of this CC Cream. I also hate adding sunscreen over my foundation for the very same reason, so I love that my CC Cream also works as a sunscreen.

I absolutely loved using this CC Cream and have used it everyday since I got it. If anything, I think my acne has improved a little bit, probably because it can breathe better and because my CC cream is lightening my spots, providing much needed moisture and SPF without me having to add a super heavy, greasy sunscreen over my CC Cream.

If you are looking for a full coverage product, then you may want to go with a BB cream or regular foundation, but with summer coming, couldn’t we all use a little lighter formula? I know when I’m spending days at the lake, the last thing I want is a heavy, caked on face, so I know my Studio Gear CC Cream will be getting a ton of use this summer!

  1. I don’t know if I will like this, I have tried BB creams before because it is a complete facial care cream but it did not meet what me skin really need that is why i went to basics. I hope this one will work.

  2. I think the silicone/dimethicone in BB creams makes me break out…I usually prefer mineral powders because they seem to help reduce my acne or maybe not aggravate it?
I have sensitive, oily, acne prone skin and I’m getting older…not fun…anyway I’m trying the Organic CC cream from Physicians Formula. I can’t tell yet if it bothers my skin. I’ll look into this formula since the PF is too dark. 🙁

  3. Sounds like a good product and I think I would love to try it. Btw there are many many BB creams outthere which are not heavy at all and offer very light coverage 😉
