Anyone who has suffered from long-term acne would probably agree that they would do just about anything to banish it for good.
It wasn’t that long ago that I was suffering from the dreaded adult acne (thanks to a switch in Birth Control) and tried so many different treatments, creams, pills, you name it, and could never really find anything that worked that great!
Suffering from acne can be a total downer, not only that, but your self esteem can suffer. I know I wouldn’t dare go out without makeup on, and even on those days where I was having a severe breakout, I would turn down requests to hang out with friends, dinner dates, etc., because I was just too embarrassed of my skin.
Fortunately, that doesn’t always have to be the case. Theralight is a light therapy company dedicated to creating products using light that can be beneficial in treating acne, psoriasis, and vitiligo.
Founded in July of 2000, Theralight designs treatments for skin disorders and distributes them throughout the nation to various dermatologist and other medical centers. The concept was created on the basis of using ultraviolet light on targeted skin areas, to treat acne, psoriasis, or vitiligo, in order to bring it into remission.
Using red light and blue light, the Versaclear targets acne, reduced the inflammation, and rejuvenating the skin, giving you a clearer, less inflamed complexion. Using light therapy from the Versaclear helps increase blood flow to the skin, as well as stimulates cellular tissue repair. Using this treatment also counteracts the aging of the skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles too! Not only will the Versaclear help clear up unwanted acne, but you will also get noticeable smoother, softer, firmer, tighter skin too!
What makes Versaclear unique from other light therapy acne treatments on the market is that the Icetron lamp used in the Versaclear actually puts out 4 times the light you find in traditional light therapy treatments for acne. The Versaclear can also be used for broader treatment areas such as the back and shoulders.
So what exactly does a treatment consist of? Well, 2 weeks prior to treatment, you will need to use Tazorac continuously. If not possible, you can undergo a chemical peel or microdermabrasion treatment in order to remove the upper stratum corneum of the skin. Immediately right before Versaclear light treatment, the skin will just need to be washed as well as using a mild peel or microdermabrasion treatment to make sure the skin is clear of makeup, sunscreen, dead skin cells, and pollutants.
You will then undergo 20 minute sessions of blue light, twice per week, for 4-6 weeks. Alternating blue and red light are then used in 20 minute sessions, twice per week, for 4-6 weeks. In between sessions you will also be asked to use salicylic wash, Differin, or Retin-A to keep the skin clean.
When using the VersaClear’s light therapy, you can expect to see a 60-80% improvement of acne, lasting for 4-6 months. Improvements may be seen as soon as the second treatment! However, it is important to keep in mind that 20-25% of patients will not see improvement in their skin from light therapy.
You can check out the Theralight website to see great before and after photos of people who have undergone the VersaClear treatment to reduce their acne. The results are quite remarkable!
