There is no shortage of articles that talk about how people do not drink as much water as the body needs.
It is really important for everyone to drink as much water as the body requires. Unfortunately, this is much easier said than done.
Most people do not drink as much as they should. In fact, in many cases, a lot less is drank.
When you do not drink enough water, the body ends up dehydrated. This can be really bad for your health.
In order to drink more water every single day, here are some very simple things that you can do right now.
1. Understand Personal Fluid Needs
Every single body is different. For most people, the recommendation of 64 ounces of water per day is not correct. In fact, the NAM (National Academy of Medicine) recommends that women drink around 90 ounces and men around 125 ounces. However, this is not always the case.
The amount of water your body needs varies based on health status, location, physical activity level, and countless other factors. Make sure that you never feel thirsty. When you feel this, you need to drink water as fast as possible.
2. Set Daily Water Consumption Goals
When you set an actual goal for daily water intake, you psychologically help yourself to drink more. This can often be incredibly motivating and you can end up making even more positive changes in life. As an example, you can set a goal of around 40 ounces per day. Record when you drink and your personal progress. This helps you to become motivated and gets you closer to your overall goal.
3. Make Water Readily Available
If you do not have a potable water source around you, there is a really good possibility that you are not going to drink when the body requires liquids. For instance, if you have a faucet that does not work, contact plumbing experts Fix It Right to get it running again. When you feel thirsty, you can drink water.
4. Have Reusable Water Bottles Near You At All Times
When you have a water bottle on you at all times during the day, you end up drinking more. As soon as you feel thirsty, you have something to drink out of. It is not at all difficult to find reusable water bottles. They can be used wherever you go, including when you are at school or when you travel.
To make matters even better, the water bottle can also be a really strong visual reminder that helps you to drink more. You practically see that water bottle and you are reminded that you need to drink water. Make sure that you do not use plastic water bottles though. They are really bad for the environment.
5. Set Alarms
Last but not least, you can always set some reminders that will help you to drink more water. There are countless apps that get this done for you. Alternatively, a smartphone alarm is all you actually need. In extreme cases, when you do not actually drink much water, you can set alarms every half an hour to sip some water.
