There aren’t many universal truths these days, but we don’t think we’re being too bold when we say everyone loves stepping into a welcoming atmosphere and, even more than this, we all want to be greeted by inviting home after a long day at work. This is your safe haven. It is your little piece of the wider world. As such, creating a welcoming home has so many intrinsic benefits; as does being told your home is warm and inviting by guests. It’s a nice feeling.
The big question is, how can we do this with little details?
Well, whether you are preparing for the arrival of guests or just want that amazing feeling of being home every time you step through your front door, we have come up with a few tips and tricks that you may want to bookmark in your browser, as you’re about to see for yourself:
- With The Very First Step
In interior design, as in life, first impressions count for everything. That is why the entrance to your home is so important. It’s what ushers in that welcoming vibe. That means having great lighting, a succession of rugs, a big plant and even a stunning mirror. All of this sets the tone for the rest of the home. Even if the coziness doesn’t carry all the way through, the first impression will stay with you.
- Aromatherapy Has Its Place
The power of smell is like no other. It is one of those things that can lift your spirits like music and calm your soul like a warm bath. As such, it is the secret ingredient when creating a welcoming atmosphere. To spruce up this part of your home, there is plenty of things you can do, from buying a scent diffuser from somewhere like aromatech.com to having freshly cut flowers dotted around your home. You could even get into the habit of baking cookies, using your slow-cooker or just lighting a scented candle the moment you step through the door. You’ll be amazed at how much your spirits lift.
- Influence Of Intimacy
The more you can keep the seating arrangements in your living spaces close together the more you will create a sense of intimacy. Yes, it is nice creating a sense of space with things like coffee tables and other objects, but the further apart your guests are the more they will feel that distance. You want to create a sense of cosiness, and that is why you should try and make little sociable spaces in your home. Every experience will really benefit.
- Layers Are Always Lovely
The key to a welcoming environment is to make it feel cosy, no matter what season it may be outside. And how can you do that? By simply layering up on certain things like cushions and throws and what have you. That’s it. Just pop a few different blankets on a sofa or a chair and grab cushions of different shapes and sizes and fling them together. If you’re worried about it feeling a little too heavy and becoming a wintery oasis, then simply consider the fabrics and colors you use. It really is as simple as that.
Happy Healthy living!

very interesting post,,,i feel happy when i get home always
That’s great! I usually do too, just because it’s home…. 🙂
I think you also have to be careful with scents, for some , it can be overpowering.I also like incense, the soft subtle kind. You can usually find one that fits you easily, and it lingers enough to keep things smelling unique. I need to work on the entryway, which is actually our front porch!
Couldn’t agree more Ellen! Thanks for your comment and tips! xoxo
